About

Who Am I?
An entitled college student who thinks she's qualified to critique performances. I'm a theatre fan, I've worked on some amazing productions, and I flatter myself I know something about performance.

Why BAT?
I saw the Metropolitan Opera's 2011 production of Gounod's Faust and it didn't exactly tickle my fancy. I summarized my feelings in an email to my dad, which he said I should submit to the school paper.
But I'm not a music major, and my friends who are said they enjoyed the opera, so who am I to judge something of which I don't have nearly enough technical knowledge? So I put it on the Internet instead.

About What do I Bitch?
It's called Bitching About Theatre, but it extends to film as well. "Bat" sounded nicer than "Baa," anyway.

You Don't Understand Music! You Can't Critique Opera!
No, I don't. But if it's all about the music, just perform it in concert rather than in a staging. I'm here to remind people that there's more to opera than just the music; the production as a whole has to make sense, too.

I'm not a trained theatre critic, I don't get musical nuances. I'm just a regular girl giving her honest opinion on the various things she sees.
